MATERIALS USED AND PRODUCT CARE
3D PRINTING OPTIONS AND MATERIALS
Trash Compactor offers products that are 3D printed in firm or flexible resin, as well as FDM-printed hard plastic.
There are two main types of 3D printing technologies:
-
Resin (SLA or MSLA): Known for creating super-smooth surfaces and fine details, resin printers use photosensitive liquid resin and UV light beams to form layers. While they provide exceptional detail, the resin material can be brittle, especially in smaller or thinner areas.
-
Filament (FDM or FFF): Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) involves heating and extruding thermoplastic filament, which is deposited layer by layer. While FDM printing is widely accessible, it may have limitations in detail due to positioning accuracy and nozzle size.
All Trash Compactor figures and accessories are digitally designed and 3D printed using high-quality, durable resins. Although tough, resin pieces can shatter if dropped from significant heights. Unpainted figures are usually sent unassembled to ensure safer transit.
ASSEMBLY AND CARE FOR 3D PRINTED ITEMS
Assembling Trash Compactor models is straightforward, so there’s no need to worry if your figure arrives in parts. To avoid issues such as paint rub or fragile assembly, it’s recommended to consult guides on assembling resin figures. Please note:
-
Handling: Resin is safe to touch but is not suitable for children, pets, or consumption. Repeated movement of joints or parts can cause resin to powder over time.
-
Flex Resin: This is a softer resin option that reduces the risk of paint rub, but still requires careful handling.
When assembling, avoid using excessive force during limb movement to prevent breaking pegs. It's easier to assemble after painting, which is why unassembled figures are preferred for shipping.
IMPORTANT NOTES ON RESIN-PRINTED ITEMS
-
Resin Properties: Resin is a hard, detailed material that can be brittle in smaller areas like pins, pegs, or thumbs. Flex resin is slightly more flexible but still needs to be handled with care.
-
Handling & Maintenance: When resin rubs against resin, it may create a fine powder. Ensure your items are clean and dust-free before painting. Over time, joints may loosen with repeated movement.

-
Display Piece: These items are display pieces, not toys for children. Handle with care.
-
Care Instructions: While 3D-printed items are durable, they are still delicate and can break if handled roughly. Avoid extreme conditions such as freezing, boiling, microwaving, or soaking your prints, as this can cause damage. Once painted, display your item away from direct sunlight, heat, or moisture to prevent warping or splitting over time.
